What was it?

In April 2022 we ran a screening event at the Close-Up Cinema in Shoreditch for four short documentary films made by Kestrel associate Dorothy Allen-Pickard, called After Time.

The films explored the complexity of life after a prison sentence from four unique perspectives. Brian, Marc, Ricardo and Nathaniel have all been involved in multiple Kestrel projects and speak eloquently about their own experiences, as well as reflecting on the criminal justice system as a whole.

The sold-out screening event included a Q&A hosted by actor Paapa Essiedu.

Read about Kestrel’s partnership with galdem to release an edited version of three of the four shorts here.

We are thrilled to share Brian’s After Time, where he talks about his experience of working with Kestrel at the Royal Court Theatre, and reflects on mental health provision in the criminal justice system.
